Cine-Vera Entertainment is proud to announce the
upcoming "Mudcat Blues", a
tribute film to the late
Jim Rosen and the Mudcats Blues Band.
For a Mudcat
"On stage, he rocked his head slightly from side to side,
smiling in appreciation of the sounds his band mates made,
or singing in a gravelly voice. When it was time for him to take a solo,
he
raised his harp with both hands, grasping it like a chalice and bringing
it
to his lips with obvious joy.
He liked to begin with a trumpet-like
fanfare of crisply articulated notes, then
take a tightly coiled riff and
exploit its rhythms and intervals in cascading
seamless variations that
culminated in impossibly high frequencies. At times he
would back the sound
down to a whisper and create free flowing, gently
vibrating lullabies.
Only a few people are fortunate
enough to find
a single occupation that they can love and work at for a lifetime; Jim was
one of
the lucky one, and playing blues harmonica was the thing."

"I was fortunate enough to have know
Jim, if only for a short time. It was enriching for me to watch him touch
the hearts of those around him. His passion for music seemed to compliment
his dynamic personality and no-nonsense philosophy. To watch him on stage
supported by Rob, Wayne, and Gene, The Mudcats became a single entity. A
unification of soul and spirit. As a director/cinematographer, I was
enlightened by the experience. On a cold afternoon, accompanied by a small
band of film-makers, we set out to capture this moment in time. These
recording and images are a testament to our conviction. For me, it was a
golden opportunity to preserve a legacy. I wish I could say thank you, just
so, straight into his soul."

"Every day, I count my blessings. It
was a true blessing to cross paths with Jim Rosen. He was the real deal.
When you heard him sing, when you heard that amazing harp, you heard the
blues. Jim lived 'em, and he loved 'em. The world was blessed by Jim's all
too brief stay with us... His big heart touched everyone who came to know
him. Thanks, Jim. You'll always be with us."
